Women & Girls Empowerment
Tailoring, reusable pad making, wellness, safety education, leadership circles, and practical pathways to dignity and independence.
Ubuntu International
I am because we are
We connect women, youth, artists, educators, and community leaders to turn shared humanity into practical action across Africa and beyond.
Our shared humanity
Ubuntu means “I am because we are.” It reminds us that our wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of others.
Ubuntu International brings this philosophy to life through locally led programs in women’s and youth empowerment, arts and culture, child safety, regenerative agriculture, education, and leadership.
What we do
Each program strengthens the others—creating an ecosystem where knowledge, resources, and leadership circulate through the community.
Tailoring, reusable pad making, wellness, safety education, leadership circles, and practical pathways to dignity and independence.
Dance, music, visual art, storytelling, technology, and Ubuntu Ambassador training that helps young people teach and uplift others.
Hands-on training in regenerative growing, kitchen gardens, soil restoration, indigenous trees, and community-led food resilience.
Child-safety education that helps children understand their bodies, recognize unsafe situations, speak up, and know where to find support.
Artists, dancers, musicians, and cultural leaders using creativity to heal, educate, preserve heritage, and strengthen community.
Equipping local women, youth, artists, and organizers to share what they learn and grow a connected network of community changemakers.
Healing the Roots
Ubuntu International is expanding its work to address not only the challenges communities face, but the trauma people carry within them.
In collaboration with Dr. Brian Alman and TrueSage, we are bringing evidence-informed mind-body healing tools to women, girls, youth, families, caregivers, and community leaders.
Dr. Alman’s work draws on more than 30 years of collaboration with Dr. Vincent Felitti, co-principal investigator of the landmark Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study, exploring how childhood adversity and unresolved experiences can affect health and wellbeing throughout life.
Through Dr. Alman’s MindBody Healing approach, enlightn platform, and From Trauma to Enlightenment, we are working toward a simple but powerful goal:
Help people move beyond surviving trauma toward healing, self-understanding, resilience, and hope.Explore Our Trauma Healing Work

The Art of Ubuntu
Art, dance, music, fashion, storytelling, and the care of the Earth are not separate activities. Together, they create belonging, restore confidence, preserve culture, and open new paths for women and young people.

Our future dream · Kabale, Uganda
A five-acre home where creativity, healing, learning, and care for the Earth can live together.
We envision a regional community resource center with spaces for art, music, dance, fashion, tailoring, technology, and women’s and youth empowerment—surrounded by permaculture gardens, a play area, wellness spaces, and welcoming residences for visiting teachers, artists, and community builders.
